Happy Wednesday to you!
Today’s top five centres around my Hogwarts House – Ravenclaw!
Intelligent, witty, creative and analytical, us Ravenclaws are certainly the seekers of knowledge!
So, who do I believe embodies these same characteristics from some of my favourite fictional worlds? Let’s find out!
Eleanor Oliphant from Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman.
I guess you could argue that Eleanor’s personality is the result of past trauma, but there’s no denying her intelligence, she incredibly analytical and a little off the wall. (OK, very off the wall) I do believe that those of the Ravenclaw house sometimes have a certain element of eccentricity about them – I know that’s the truth for myself. We tend to be a little on the quirky side (Just look at our girl Luna Lovegood) and I believe that the wonderful character that is Eleanor Oliphant is almost certainly a Ravenclaw.
Ferius Parfax from the Spellslinger series by Sebastian De Castell.
Ferius is a type of traveller in the Spellslinger series, she becomes a kind of mentor to the main character, Kellen, and teaches him various ways throughout the course of the books.
I love Ferius as a character, she is totally badass but usually manages to get herself out of difficult situations by literally, talking herself out of them. If that’s not the trait of a Ravenclaw, I don’t know what is!
Lucien Vanserra – A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
I adore Lucien, he is such a wonderful character and I really want to see more of him in the ACOTAR series.
Lucien is sarcastic and witty, he often uses his intellect to cover up how he is truly feeling and despite a hard exterior, I believe he is actually quite a softy. Definitely my favourite character in the ACOTAR series.
Rupert Giles – Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Maybe this is a little too obvious? I love Giles from Buffy, he is constantly surrounded by books, he adores knowledge and he’s super smart if a little out of touch. I think he’s really got that whole eccentric Ravenclaw thing going on too.
Tyrion Lannister – A Game of Thrones – George RR Martin.
I don’t know for definite that Tyrion would be a Ravenclaw – he has many Slytherin qualities too, but when it comes to wit, intellect and a dose of originality, he’s got it all. Definitely a touch of the eccentric in there too. Tyrion can defuse most situations with his sharp tongue and is able to come up with the most tactical, if not cunning plans (Hence the Slytherin qualities too)
Not a finer example of a Slytherclaw exists! Haha
So there you have it, 5 Ravenclaws I’d be proud to have to join me in the common room!
What’s your Hogwarts house? Not sure? Head over to Pottermore and check out their quiz, there’s also a quiz for your Patronus (Mine is an Eagle) and your wand (Holly, 10 inches, Unicorn hair) which I absolutely adore. (Personality quizzes? I’m there)
Until next time, bookworms!
